This necklace balances heavy-duty industrial goth and alternative elements with natural, traditional materials. It features polished Kukui nuts paired with draped stainless steel chains, spiked charms, and dark accents for a look that is part gothic, part organic.

The necklace is built for those who like their accessories to have weight and presence. It layers multiple textures to create a tiered, "stacked" effect:

About the Kukui Nut

The Kukui nut (also known as the candlenut) comes from the Aleurites moluccanus tree, which is the state tree of Hawaiʻi. Historically, these nuts were incredibly versatile in Hawaiian culture—the oil was burned in lamps for light, the kernels were used for food and medicine, and the shells were polished into jewelry.

In Hawaiian tradition, Kukui represents enlightenment, protection, and peace. While often worn as a lei during celebrations, the nuts have become a recognizable symbol of the islands’ natural beauty and heritage.

I am not Hawaiian, but I have a deep appreciation for the natural materials and history of the islands. In sourcing and using these beads, I want to acknowledge their origin with respect. I stand in solidarity with the Native Hawaiian community and believe in the importance of Hawaiian sovereignty. A portion of my work involves honoring the roots of my materials while advocating for the self-determination of the people from whom these traditions originate.
